SPIROL Introduces New Precision Machined Compression Limiters to Protect Plastic Assemblies

SPIROL is pleased to introduce the new Series CL6000 lightweight, lead-free, Aluminum Precision Machined Compression Limiters. Compression Limiters are designed to reinforce high stress joints in plastic assemblies where bolts are used to connect two components to each other.

Hole Preparation for Press Fit Pins

Press fit pins are retained in an assembly by the frictional forces between the pin and its mating host component.  These forces are a product of the coefficient of friction between the mating materials/coatings, and the interference fit between the pin and its host component. This paper addresses the hole preparation processes required to successfully install commonly used press fit pins. The pins evaluated in this document are listed below, in order of increasing recommended hole tolerance. 1. Ground Dowels & Straight Pins 2. Knurled & Grooved Pins 3. Slotted Spring Pins 4.
