A world class rubber molding house manufactures a rubber damper used as a muffler hanger. The hanger attaches the muffler to the under carriage of the vehicle. Spacers or Bushings are required to prevent damage to the rubber hanger.
This customer was using a piece of cut tubing that required a secondary operation to deburr the tubing. This additional step makes cut tubing more costly than a SPIROL split seam, butted Spacer. SPIROL's standard Spacer does not require a secondary deburring operation to ensure clean, burr free ends due to our proprietary forming process.
While the customer had no performance issues with the use of cut tubing, they were wanted to reduce the cost of the assembly.
