The Benefits of 420 Chrome Stainless Steel Coiled Spring Pins

In applications requiring a combination of high strength, superior fatigue life, and corrosion resistance, 420 martensitic chrome stainless steel offers a host of technical benefits and provides an overall robust cost-effective solution.

Coiled Spring Pins

SPIROL invented the Coiled Spring Pin and its production technology in 1948. Since that time, the Coiled Spring Pin has proven to be the most versatile spring pin in the industry. More than fasteners, SPIROL Coiled Pins are shock-absorbing elements that are integral, active components of a total assembly. A problem solver, SPIROL Coiled Pins offer the lowest installed cost in most applications.

Standard SPIROL® Coiled Spring Pins provide flexibility, uniform strength, equal stress distribution, closer diameter tolerances, no interlocking, trouble-free automatic feeding, and they reduce costs. Heavy, standard, and light duty pins provide combinations of strength, flexibility and diameter to meet the specific engineering objectives of your pinning applications.

Otherwise known as Spiral Pins, Coil Pins, Roll Pins or simply Spring Pins, Coiled Spring Pins are available in both inch and metric sizes in a variety of materials and finishes from 0.8mm/.031” (1/32) in diameter up to 20mm/.750” (3/4) in diameter. Select from our expansive standard offering, or allow us to work with you to design a custom Coiled Pin to meet your unique requirements!

standard duty coiled pin
Standard Duty Coiled Spring Pins
Wherever space permits, use Standard Duty Coiled Spring Pins. These pins have the optimum combination of strength and flexibility for use in nonferrous and mild steel components. They are also recommended in hardened components because of their greater shock absorbing qualities.

ISO 8750, ASME B18.8.3M, ASME B18.8.2

heavy duty coiled pin
Heavy Duty Coiled Spring pins
Heavy Duty Coiled Spring Pins should be used in hardened materials where space or design limitations rule out a larger diameter standard duty Coiled Pin.

ISO 8748, ASME B18.8.3M. ASME B18.8.2

light duty coiled pin
Light Duty Coiled Spring Pins
Light Duty Coiled Spring Pins are recommended for soft, brittle or thin materials and where holes are close to an edge. In situations not subjected to significant loads, light duty Coiled Pins are often used because of easy installation resulting from lower insertion force.
